Our mission is to help small organisations keep up to date with technology and use it effectively. The first point of contact is often through a website, but there are many other ways of communicating your message and we can help you find the ones which are most appropriate to your own situation. Find out more in the sections below.
Once upon a time we could find out all we needed to know through printed information. That is no longer the case and the first place most people look for information now is on the web, often using their mobile phone or tablet. It has become essential for just about every organisation to have at least a basic web presence so that people can find you and discover what you do.
Website design has changed dramatically over the last few years and it is now expected that the same site will look good on a multitude of devices with widely different screen sizes. You need to be able to update it easily with new information so you are not presenting ‘old news’ to the world. As with so many things, the trends in design change quite rapidly so what looks good now can appear dated in just a few years’ time. So not only does your content need to be easily updated but it should be possible to refresh the overall look of the site without starting again from scratch. And finally you need to be sure your website is robust and secure so that it cannot be taken over by a third party and used for their own nefarious purposes.
If you do not yet have a website, or if you have an old site that needs updating, all this can seem daunting. But it doesn’t need to be. Our sites are based on the widely-used WordPress platform together with a robust and well-tested theme framework, which ensures easy editing for you, together with excellent security, and support for just about any device screen size. We also provide a custom theme which determines the overall look of the site, and this can be updated in future to change the look without changing the content.
Whether you love or loathe social media, there’s no denying it is the first port of call for many people when looking for what’s happening. It’s also a very simple way of getting your message out to a wider audience. If you are not a regular user of Facebook I can help you get started with a page specifically for your organisation.
If you would like to send out a mailshot to publicise an event, product or service, you need more than plain text to make it look good. But as with websites, what looks good in your desktop email client can look terrible on a mobile phone screen. This is where email marketing software comes into its own, giving you all the tools to design professional looking emails that look good on any device. The even better news is that it is free to use.
You have a group of people who all need to communicate by email. It sounds simple enough until you forget to include one person. Or someone changes their email address but not everyone has updated their address book. Or someone forgets to reply-all. Fortunately there is an easy solution to this – email discussion groups. First you create one central group containing all the email addresses. Then anyone in the group can send an email to the group address and it is sent out automatically to everyone on the list. No more forgetting Fred, and no need to reply-all. And if someone changes address you only have one place to update to ensure that communication keeps flowing.
Most churches have small hand-held information boards or tour booklets for visitors. The boards can only carry a small amount of information, and the booklets either need reprinting if you have many visitors, or fade and curl at the corners if you have few. But with so many people carrying smart phones, you have the ideal opportunity to offer much more by setting up a simple internal web site (you don’t need an Internet connection or mobile signal to do this). This can provide not only written information and pictures, but also recorded audio or even video, all delivered directly to your visitor’s own phone. We can set up a simple system to do this for you. You need to provide the content and we provide the technical know-how.
We can also provide technical advice on audio systems, video & projection, and lighting, as well as general IT advice. Contact us for more information.
